New Booster Pump in Fortuna Causes Issues With Water Color

Press release from the City of Fortuna:

On Thursday, January 10th a new booster pump was installed at the City’s well site on Eel River Drive. This new pump had a higher capacity than the pump it replaced and introduced sediment into the water distribution system that normally is settled at the bottom of the clear well. This sediment, while having an objectionable color, is only an aesthetic issue and does not pose a threat to public health.

City utility crews will be flushing the water mains throughout the City today to resolve the issue and restore the normal clarity of the water. If anyone is still experiencing colored water issues, please let your tap run for a few minutes until that water is clear and that should resolve the issue. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused and we will work diligently to resolve the problem.

Dogs won’t drink it at the dog park, so what does that tell you.

Agreed. They know best. And thank you Kym for the info that the city should have put out before, and more publicly.
