Collision in McKinleyville Near the Brewery
CHP Incident page shows an RV vs SUV collision with major front end damage to one of the vehicles and ambulances are being requested at 1285 Central Avenue in McKinleyville.
Drivers coming from Arcata may want to use the School Road exit to access the south side of McKinleyville. Tow trucks are enroute as of 5:59 p.m.
[UPDATE 7p.m.] The roadway is now clear.

This could be bad.
That area contains two of the worst intersections in the County. The roads on either side of the 6 Rivers Brewery are treacherous to get out of at rush hour (4:30 -5:30). Bella Vista and the road to the south of Brewer.
Speed limit is supposed to be 35 prior to entering the top of the hill but rarely do people observe that.
I’ve never had a problem there. Make sure there’s nothing coming, and then step on the gas. Both of these steps some people seem to have problems with, however….
Hell if you do go the speed limit people start honking at you, flipping the bird, an then often do something stupid to get around you. (ie passing into oncoming traffic, or or the shoulder)
Ignore them. And drive the biggest vehicle you can. Equalize the situation and you, at least, don’t lose.
