Events remain unclear, but a high speed hit and run collision occurred sometime around 11:30 p.m. Monday night on the turn from Redwood Drive onto Redway Drive, in Redway.  The car pictured was rammed into the Persimmon’s gate and the PG&E power pole at the west side of the gate by a white 2001 Dodge truck.

The pole had to be replaced yesterday, and Persimmon’s gate has been removed while its posts require support.

Officer Fowler of the Garberville CHP said their office still has not made contact with the driver, and that while the victim had a name and some information, she didn’t have everything she needed according to Fowler.

Ypersimmon'sesterday, the victim reported to KMUD’s Lauren Schmitt the driver contacted them and promised to pay for the damage.

Fowler told Schmitt that non-injury hit and run is a misdemeanor, but had anyone been hurt, it would be a felony incident.

F…ing kidding me. This is crap. Someone got hit that hard 50′ down from the corner… They had to be driving fast, like crazy fast, no cops noticed. Oh that’s right, no cops. Then to hear they said sorry and want to reimburse…. Only in sohum.

Have you noticed the many patched up areas of fence on the corner on Briceland Road in Redway going toward the river from town just before the pumping station on a corner?
It’s been hit well over 5 times by out of control drivers.
It will be hit again soon.

Yeah, really bad and dangerous driving, and a blow to Persimmons and the owner of the smashed car.
Author should occasionally proofread.
“Officer Foster of the Garberville CHP said their office still has not made contact with the driver, and that while the victim had a name and some information, she didn’t have everything she needed according to Fowler.”
Which is it? Foster or Fowler? The reporting’s a day late already, what’s the hurry?

Proofreader’s in a bad mood? Proofreader is very critical of a free community news blog. Kind of a nasty comment, seems to me.

It’s a good thing they did not crash into the gas station and blow up the whole town.

I have known the man that did this for many years. . He has been a wreckless person over the years . I had hoped he was making a shift in his life. But it is now obvious that he needs a serious lesson to shift his behavior. Drunk driving and hit and run should always be more than a misdemeanor! I am furious that he is allowed to be on the road with me and my family not to mention his own child! Not cool!
