Yesterday, the Humboldt Ice Rink opened to acclaim at the Belotti Hall in the Ferndale Fairgrounds. Now even bigger then when it debuted in Fortuna in 2015, the rink has been beautifully decorated for the holidays to create a magical family fun atmosphere.

The ice rink which started in Newburg Park in a tent was moved to the Humboldt County Fairgrounds this year. The new location is indoors and less likely to be impacted by storms–one of which collapsed part of the tent in the past.

The rink’s new owners, the Humboldt County Fair, have not only decorated with the holidays in mind they will also be open on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day as well from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Santa and Mrs Claus are on hand for photo opportunities.

The rink is open through January 6th. Adults are $12 and children $8 with skate rental included.  For more information about the rink, including daily operation hours, visit http://humboldticerink.com/

This is awesome!
I wish they could open a year round one for those who long to compete.
But, this is nice. We’ll take it.

Winter Wonderland🎄
Beautiful job FERNDALE Fair.
We need to stop by to check it out. Too old to ice skate any longer, but, young enough to watch others enjoying this special holiday event.

I wonder if they will sharpen the rental skates? I went when it was in Fortuna and saw people walking on the concrete and asphalt with bare blades. When I asked the people renting the skates if they ever sharpened them, they didn;t have a clue what I was talking about.
