Hey, Why Not Use Your Pocket, too?
Opossum are the only marsupial (a mammal that carries its young in its pouch) in the United States. Of course, in most species of opossums, males don’t have a pouch.
One of the oldest mammals, opossums co-existed with dinosaurs over 70 million years ago.
This opossum is gathering nesting material with its tail, according to local tracker Kim Cabrera. She wrote, “Watch as it uses the hind legs to gather the material, then carries it off in the tail. This opossum is getting ready for a cold winter! The temperatures during the nights this was filmed were in the 30’s.”
