This is a press release from the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office. The information has not been proven in a court of law and any individuals described should be presumed innocent until proven guilty:

The January 2018 booking photo of Jacob Hines.

On 11-17-2018 at approximately 1421 hours, the HCSO received an anonymous tip that a wanted suspect (Jacob Hines) was near the Bear River Housing area in Loleta CA. The citizen advised Deputies that Hines was driving a red four door Nissan pickup and left the area just moments prior to Deputies arrival. A records check indicated Hines was wanted on PRCS violations. Hines is known to carry firearms and has a history of fleeing from arrest.

Deputies began to canvass the area of Loleta and soon located Hines’ pickup on Summer St. near the intersection with Eel River Dr. in Loleta.

The first Deputies on scene located a male subject who was attempting to flee on foot from the pickup into the brush. Deputies detained this subject and learned he was Jason Sherman who was also wanted on a felony warrant.

A search of the vehicle located numerous live rounds of 9mm ammunition, but no firearm. A resident nearby confirmed that two males fled the pickup; one into the brush and one down the road.

HCSO’s newest K9, K9 Gusto was on scene and was deployed for a track to locate Hines. K9 Gusto located fresh scent and led Deputies into the thick brush just off of the roadway near the suspect’s pickup.

Within a few feet of the roadway, a loaded 9mm pistol was located. After a few hundred feet, K9 Gusto neared Hines and Hines surrendered to Deputies. Hines was taken into custody without further incident.

Both subjects were booked into the Humboldt County Correctional Facility for the following charges:

(S-1) Jacob Hines: 29800(a)(1) PC / 30305 PC / outstanding warrant.

(S-2) Jason Sherman: Outstanding warrant

Really, don’t have to anything wrong to get a felony? I and almost everyone I know must be living on borrowed time because we have been around for 60 years and have yet to get a felony or a misdemeanor!

No one I know personally has revealed they committed a felony either. I suppose that it is technically possible to commit an inadvertent felony but mostly it seems, since intent is part of felonious activity, that is almost never true.

Could you give an example of an “easy” to commit felony? It’s really not reasonable to be angry at someone who has not committed a felony for thinking it must be somewhat intentional.

I hope they take the truck to a crusher instead of giving it back so it can be used in more crimes.

Should be crushed and shipped to China for scrap.
