Community Changemakers Invited to Apply for Grassroots and Consulting Grants

This is a press release from the Humboldt Area Foundation:

If your organization needs some help getting ready for its next big step, or you’re a grassroots community leader working to create change, December 3 is a big deadline for you. The Humboldt Area Foundation is now accepting proposals for Grassroots and Consulting Grants.

Consulting Grants – formerly known as TAP Grants – help pay for consultants to work with organizations on planning, assessment or leadership development. Grants are typically $500-$5,000. The Grassroots Grant program is for community and neighborhood groups who organize people around something that is important to them. Grant awards are typically $500-$2,000. Both grant programs are open to organizations or community groups in Humboldt, Del Norte, Curry and Trinity Counties.

“Thanks to HAF and the TAP [Consulting] grant, Lynn’s Hope House of New Beginnings was able to obtain the services of a facilitator to help us with completing a strategic plan that will help us set priorities and define methods and timelines to achieve them,” says Rev. Daphane Lynn Williams, who opened a recovery house for women transitioning out of incarceration in Crescent City.

“Leadership is a key part of Humboldt Area Foundation’s mission,” says Amy Jester, Program Director of Health & Nonprofit Resources. “The Grassroots Grant program supports resident leaders that are working together to do something positive in their neighborhoods or communities. Consulting Grants help leaders in organizations get some outside assistance and support to strengthen their ability to lead healthy thriving nonprofits that communities across the region rely on.”

Phuuk Grants and the horse they road in on.

Where do you think “GRANTS” originate? We, the people, are the source of all currency. And the “DO-GOODERS”, knowingly or unknowingly, will ride the backs of labor for all we’re worth.

Same as it ever was.
