Kristin Garlinghouse: ‘A Wonderful Mother, Friend, Daughter and Sister’

This section includes both obituaries and memories. Honoring our loved ones who have died does not end immediately after their passing. We recognize that… so we’re extending our obituary section to include individuals who may have left a long time ago. If you want to remember someone who is gone, either recently or longer ago, please send a photo and a few sentences to [email protected].

What a beautiful lady. My heart goes out to all her loved ones. Such a heartbreak. I have a niece her age & the thought of losing her to this awful disease at such a young age is incomprehensible. Sorry for your loss. Please let there be a cure for cancer soon.

To the Smith Family, I am so very sorry for your loss, I can’t imagine what you’re all going through. My thoughts are with you all.

To Kristen, I have never been more sorry that I lost touch with someone…I cannot believe you are gone. Life is so short and so precious and I am just so so very sorry I didn’t stay in touch. You were a part of my life for so many years, I forgot how precious and fragile you were…I still remember thinking how strong you were the first time you had to fight cancer so many years ago..I was so amazed at how such a tiny person could be so damn brave! I will never ever forget your smile, your laugh, the times at the river or school dances or just snack at East High…I keep thinking of the day you told me you were pregnant with Cash Dean and how bright you eyes were, I will keep that picture in my head forever. I am so grateful the events of our lives brought us together…

Your babies are so beautiful and I know they have so many people around them to help them and that is because of you! You managed to bring people from all different groups of friends together constantly! You taught us to accept each other and to not accept being bullied or shoved around…you were all around amazing my dear!

I can’t take back the time we lost nor can I make it up now…but I can go forward in a positive way and I can keep your ambition and determination in mind while I do so. I thank you, Kristen and The Smith Family, for allowing me to be a part of your lives, I am so grateful to have known Kristen.

Love always & forever

Leesh

So sorry for your loss. I wish I could be there. Kristen was such a brave spunky person and I’m sure the loss of her is felt through and through. The one word I can think of to describe her is a spitfire with a heart of gold
Much love and prayers,
Alicia

Kristen is in our hearts. She touched our hearts. Beautiful daughter, sister, mother, and friend. I always looked forward to them trick or treating at our home, because she was out with her family livin’ the dream. I’ll never forget the elementary school carpool days driving out of the hills. Our hearts go out to the family who stood by her and showed their love for Kristen. Much love from our family to yours, Lonnie and Kathy

Dearest friends Tracy and Mike, Amanda and Michael,
It saddens our hearts to see lovely Kristin in these obituaries. Kristen named her daughter after your mom, Tracy- that’s family love. Lonnie told me he counseled Michael on the loss of his own sister in 1990; Debbie was 34 years old when she left us. Kristin was definitely the best of the two of you… These are the only words that could even come close to comforting me after we lost Debbie:
YEA THOU I WALK THROUGH THE VALLEY OF THE SHADOW OF DEATH, I WILL FEAR NO EVIL: FOR THOU ART WITH ME.
Surely, goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the lord for ever….
I hope these words bring you some solace, they did for me.
I know it must have been so very difficult for your family to celebrate Kristen’s life, but I thank you for doing so. I am so grateful that Lon introduced me to you all of those many cherished years ago…We love you old friends – Lonnie and Kathy
