Humboldt COunty Sheriff's OfficePress release from the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office:

The Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office needs the public’s help to locate two men suspected of stealing a vehicle and fleeing from law enforcement.

On Nov. 7, 2018, at about 3 a.m., a Humboldt County Sheriff’s deputy observed a vehicle reported stolen out of Eureka occupied by two men at a gas station on the 2800 block of Broadway Street in Eureka. When the deputy attempted to conduct a traffic stop, the vehicle fled northbound on Broadway Street. The deputy briefly pursued the vehicle and then terminated the pursuit due to public safety concerns. After terminating the pursuit, the deputy observed the vehicle turn onto 14th Street.

Deputies began to patrol 14th Street in an attempt to locate the stolen vehicle and the two suspects. At about 3:15 a.m., deputies located the vehicle, unoccupied, on the 200 block of 14th Street. The Eureka Police Department responded to the scene to aid in the recovery of the vehicle.

At about 4 a.m., a sheriff’s deputy patrolling the area observed two male subjects matching the description of the two men associated with the stolen vehicle. When the deputy attempted to contact the subjects, both began to flee. The deputy observed one subject discard a firearm while fleeing. The deputy recovered the discarded firearm, which was loaded.

Sheriff’s deputies and officers with the Eureka Police Department searched the surrounding area but were unable to locate the subjects.

The first subject is described as a white male adult, in his mid to late 20’s, approximately 6 feet 1 inch tall, with a thin build, short or buzzed hair and a thin goatee. The man was last seen wearing dark colored clothing and a chain style necklace.

The second subject is described as a white male adult, in his mid to late 20’s, approximately 5 feet 10 inches tall, with a thin/medium build and red hair. The man was last seen wearing a black and red hat, a black jacket, a light colored shirt and blue jeans.

Anyone with information about this case or related criminal activity is encouraged to call the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office at (707) 445-7251 or the Sheriff’s Office Crime Tip line at (707) 268-2539.
