An Exterior Fire Spread Into Hilfiker’s Building Last Night Causing Thousands of Dollars in Damage

Press release from Humboldt Bay Fire:

On November 5th at 2117 hrs, Humboldt Bay Fire responded with 3 engines, 1 truck and 1 chief officer to a reported Commercial Structure Fire @ 3900 Broadway St. The first arriving engine reported an exterior fire that was extending into the building. Firefighters had to force entry into the building through a chain link fence and large sliding doors to gain access to the interior of the building. The fire was controlled in 20 minutes and damage is estimated at $10,000. There were no firefighter or civilian injuries and crews remained on scene for approximately an hour and a half. The cause of the fire is under investigation. Humboldt Bay Fire would like to thank the following agencies for their assistance: Arcata Fire District, Samoa-Peninsula Fire District, Humboldt Count Sheriffs’ Office, Eureka Police Department, City Ambulance and PG&E.
