[UPDATE 11:52 p.m.] Scotia Heisler Engine No. 9 Locomotive Relocating Starting Tomorrow

This is a press release from the Scotia Community Services District:

[Scotia, CA] The Scotia Heisler Engine No. 9 Locomotive and logging equipment is set to move on Thursday and Friday, October 25 and 26, 2018 during business hours. Be advised heavy equipment and machinery will be in use on the site. The Surplus Property Bid was Awarded to Friends of No. 9, LLC. on Thursday, March 15, 2018. The group plans to restore the Heisler No. 9 engine and relocate it to Mill Valley, CA where it will be on display along the historic railroad grade and accessible to the general public. The remaining historic logging equipment will be rehomed locally with the Timber Heritage Association in Samoa, CA.

UPDATE 11:52 p.m.: Leslie Marshall, the Scotia Community Services General Manager, just reported, “The Scotia Heisler Engine No. 9 Locomotive and logging equipment relocation is POSTPONED to next week Wednesday, October 31 and Thursday, November 1, 2018 during business hours.”

I used to play on that thing as a kid and I’m getting up there in age,why are they taking it.ive stopped so my kid can play on it. What a shame. Man it’s looking like everything is getting f upped in this county!!!!

Well my opinion is, if we want tourism in our county. We would be fools to let the train go. It should be in a local town. 🚂. Keep the historical value Humboldt alive. I grew up playing on that train too. Sad times.
It will be quite a site to see it going down the highway. 👁

I’ll be sorry to see it go! I didn’t realize they were so hard up for $$$$$$$$. The steam donkey was invented up here and Scotia probably wouldn’t be there if it weren’t for those two machines! SCREW Mill Valley!
