Inmate Attempted to Flee Humboldt County Courtroom Today
Information from the County of Humboldt:
On Oct. 23, 2018, at about 1:55 p.m., an inmate of the Humboldt County Correctional Facility fled a Humboldt County Superior Courtroom during the court’s afternoon arraignment calendar.
Amber Robina Adams, 36, had just completed her arraignment in Courtroom 3, when she fled from the courtroom into a public hallway. Two sheriff’s deputies quickly contacted Adams in the hallway and took her back into custody without incident.
In addition to her booking charges of felony vandalism, resisting arrest, trespassing and possession of a controlled substance, Adams will also be charged with attempted escape from custody.

winters coming on,,,
So…she was high and holding when she got to court from the JAIL?
Maybe, but that’s not what the last paragraph is saying
Dum Dee Dum Dum DUMB!!!
I served as a juror a few years ago. I know how she feels.
Good one!!! 😂
The Defense gets better chairs than the jury.
Who cares what she looks like? Irrelevant.
Isn’t the “accused” the tweeker who threw rocks? Broke windows in old town? Maybe they’ll THROW the case out…could happen!!! Lol
Resisting arrest now resisting sentencing. Only in humboldt
This woman needs help and safe supervision to prevent more harm. Our compassion would also be in order. But for the Grace of God we, or one our loved ones could be in similar circumstance.
What makes you think she would cooperate with “safe supervision” either or that help really exists as long as she objects to it? You are somewhat right about the “by the Grace” comment, if her mental problems are not due to drug use in the first place, but without some reining in on the compassion side, reality can’t to do what can be done even against her wishes.
The post-secondary withdrawal is probably nearly over. Now this person needs support from mental health services, and continued care.
Slamming people into the jail will get them clean, for a minute, but letting them just go back out to the world of Humboldt will be a disaster.
The county should have services, related to addiction and recovery and mental health, which could take the place of the misery and eventual death that this woman faces. The world is already filled up with disabled mental cases who are also addicts.
This is a perfect example of why Humboldt County should not base it’s economy on drug production and narco-tourism. Here also is why marijuana should be taxed at a very high rate, and at every level of production, sales, and distribution.
But they have rights. Including the right to do what they want when released. That includes mentally ill, who very likely do not “want” what they need.
Until the public is willing to tell lawyers there is no money in challenging involutary commitment issues wholesale, there will be no change.
Judging from the bloody and bandaged nose in the mugshot, the article is correct in saying that the deputies did “contact” her in the hallway.
Or in her headlong rush, she “contacted” some immovable object like the floor.
