Make a Difference by Helping Rehabilitate Trails in the Arcata Community Forest on Saturday

This is a press release from the City of Arcata:

Arcata, CA – The City of Arcata’s Environmental Services Department and the Humboldt Trails Council’s Volunteer Trail Stewards invite volunteers to participate in national Make A Difference Day by helping to maintain trails in the Arcata Community Forest on Saturday, October 28 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Volunteers are asked to meet at 9 a.m. at the Community Forest parking lot on Fickle Hill Road, located near the entrance of Trail 9. Carpooling is encouraged, as parking is limited. From there, volunteers will walk to the south end of Trail 4.

Work will include watering ferns, cleaning trail bridges and stairs, armoring (rocking) trails and naturalizing unsanctioned trails. Volunteers are encouraged to wear a long-sleeved shirt, work pants and boots and to bring water and extra work gloves, if available. Some gloves, tools, lunch and beverages will be provided.
