College of the Redwoods Offering Fall Personal Enrichment Classes

College of the Redwoods Workforce & Community Education will be offering a number of exciting choices for personal enrichment opportunities this fall.

Conversational Spanish classes will be offered Friday evenings beginning October 26 at 5:30 p.m.  These classes are geared for students looking to develop Spanish conversational skills in a quick and fun setting.

Aikido classes will offer a focus on coordination and overall health with Tuesday and Thursday evening classes at the Jefferson Community Center in Eureka beginning November 1.

Woodworking classes will be offered on the CR Eureka Main Campus in November and December.  The Create a Cutting Board class will show students how to build a hardwood cutting board using a variety of domestic hardwood species.  The Shaker Oval Boxes class invites students to build a set of traditional Shaker Oval Boxes using domestic hardwood. In this workshop, students will learn how to bend wood, clinch tacks, and apply a traditional shellac or milk paint finish. Either class will provide a finished product to give as a holiday gift or enjoy in your own home.

Prepare for the annual Mushroom Fair at the Arcata Community Center on Sunday, November 18 with Mushroom Identification and fieldtrip workshops, scheduled in Eureka and Del Norte.  The Eureka class is in partnership with the Humboldt Bay Mycological Society (HBMS) and scheduled for Saturday, November 10 with a field trip on private land Sunday, November 11.  Class fee includes a membership to the HBMS.  The Del Norte mushroom class will include classroom instruction and a field trip on Saturday, December 1 in Crescent City.
