Greedy irresponsible selfish Republicans complaining about having to pay for basic services as a citizen is nothing new. Cons are not only cheap, they don’t care at all about anyone or anything other than themselves. No wonder these sociopaths voted for Narcissistic Numbskull Nazi Donald J. Trump! 🐘💩🏌️‍♂️🤪

My initial guess was that it was a safe bet to vote exactly the opposite on whatever the enlightened city council of the people’s republic of Arcata supports or opposes.

After looking at their list, suspicions pretty much confirmed.

Agreed. That anyone would care what this bunch of arrogant fools thinks about anything is amazing.

You’re not wrong about Arcata being full of arrogant people, secure in their government salaries and benefits, who have power over the thinking of a herd of students too inexperienced to recognize the limits of that closed, artificial, regulated and self protective society.

Really??? Everyone in Arcata works for the government? Quel surprise! It looks as if they merely want to have our infrastructure repaired, as that money was earmarked to do.

In one way or another, I suspect almost all do. For few other sources of income exist there except income from the government directly , people selling to those government employees or offering services to the government, it’s employees or dependents. Or worst, offering services to those trying to meet government regulations. It is after all a State university town.

I post it because it is news. Like much of what I post, it is available elsewhere but I aggregate it. Not everything I aggregate is interesting to everyone. And…like I do when I run across things not of interest on other news sites, readers scroll by if they aren’t interested and click if they are.

i say this because it is a definite bias. if you claim it is because it is news then why not post http://www.cagop.yourvoter.guide/#/results/335%20california%20st,%20arcata,%20california/id/

https://www.electionforum.org/humboldt-county-voter-guide/ for Republicans.

Really the idea that political bodies like city governments have any business telling their voters how to vote is past ridiculous. It’s simply wrong of a city to advertise their bias when their goal should be to do the will of their residents once the residents have told them what they want. Not what they want the voters to do for them.

People need to know if you vote YES on Prop 6…. it is a vote to get RID of the new tax on gas and Vehicle registration that our Governor signed into law. Read the ballot and know what your voting for or against. Kym, Keep up the great work and don’t be deterred by ignorance and stupidity.

Thank you for clarifying that important bit of info.
I for one don’t want the domino effect of price increases that gas tax hikes always make. Groceries are already way too expensive!

how about a proposition to make sure all gas taxes go only toward fixing roads instead of being siphoned off by the general fund

Until the Council removes that offensive image of McKinley from their city seal, I will have no respect for their endorsements. They might as well be wearing white hoods.

I’m so glad that I have celebrities and government interest to tell me how to vote. That way I don’t have to waste my time researching and finding out for myself what all these measures and initiatives and elections mean…

Sounds like the last 30 years: the People’s Republic/Berkeley North still in control. Glad you mentioned the YES on Prop 6 to repeal the gas tax (after Jerry came into office 8 years ago mouthing: “NO NEW TAX WITHOUT A VOTE OF THE PEOPLE.” HAH!). Also: vote NO on Prop 3…the big water grab. Read Tom Stokely’s blog about this one. McKinley in Arcata: do credible fok still believe one can change history by tearing down statues? Maybe in the case of The Wall: yes.

I am so happy that the Arcata City Council has endorsed Prop 12, an animal protection measure that, if it passes, would be the strongest anti-confinement law in the world. Prop 12 would ban the cruel practice of locking egg-laying hens, pregnant pigs, and baby veal calves in cages. In addition to reducing animal suffering, it would also reduce contamination risks to our environment and our food. Hundreds of veterinarians, environmentalists, animal protection groups, and food safety specialists have endorsed Prop 12. I hope that you’ll follow their lead and vote yes on Prop 12 November 6th.
