Turnovers were a problem for St. Bernard’s for the second straight week, as the Crusaders fell 23-21 at Tri-Cities Prep in Washington on Saturday night.

A performance that head coach Matt Tomlin described as “sloppy,” wasted a good defensive effort that saw the visitors shut out the home team’s offense in the second half.

The game was tied at halftime 21-21, with the winning score coming in the third quarter on a safety, after a high snap sailed over the quarterback’s head and out of the back of the end zone.

“We had six or seven dumb penalties and three turnovers,” Tomlin said.
