Peregrine Falcon
Swift and powerful hunters, Peregrine Falcons have been treasured hunting birds for centuries. This wild one sits on a succulent covered sandhill near Loleta where local photographer Laurie Jensen snagged this gorgeous shot last week.
She’s captured several other shots for us before and you can follow her work here.

As always, birds are beautiful. But those succulents are spectacular.
You should not be listing the location of rare and endangered wildlife.
She didn’t. The peregrine falcon is not endanger nor rare. Neither is the succulent. And sandhills near Loleta are involve miles of land.
The Peregrine Falcon hasn’t been on the endangered list since 1999 and, as the person above pointed out, the Loleta sand dunes cover miles…
Hope it’s a photo that she actually took.
What?
Kym, this Falcon and I spent 1/2 hour or better enjoying the solitude of the dunes, I knew and could see the fog rolling in behind it. Was hoping to get the fly-off shot, but it waited for the fog to encase it then flew. There will be another time, and day Im patient and will get my shot
