Local Non-Profit Wild Souls Ranch Celebrates Powerful Women in the Community

This is a press release from Wild Souls Ranch:

“A woman is the full circle. Within her, she has the power to create, nurture, and transform,” writes Diane Mariechild. The author’s description of a woman is embodied by the never-ending circle of advocacy put forth by the hard-working women of Wild Souls Ranch.

A Humboldt County non-profit that serves “at-risk” and adopted youth, the all-female, progressive staff at Wild Souls Ranch harnesses the power to create, nurture, and transform every day. But these gals know how to dust off their boots and have fun too! At the Inaugural Women & Whiskey, Wild Souls Ranch will celebrate powerful local women leaders in various fields while the whiskey flows. This year, Wild Souls Ranch honors Jennifer McMahon, a Humboldt County entrepreneur, businesswoman, and philanthropist.

“As women, we face many social stigmas on a regular basis,” says Wild Souls Ranch Executive Director, Savanah McCarty. “I often get flack for drinking whiskey, as it’s considered a man’s drink. But as women, we have the power to do anything a man can do – and often better!” McCarty designed the fundraiser to honor and raise up women in Humboldt County who deserve a drink at the end of the day. “Women & Whiskey is a celebratory evening to honor the movers and shakers of our community who aren’t always recognized for their unique contributions.” explains McCarty.

Women & Whiskey will begin at 6:00 pm with hand crafted, signature whiskey cocktails by Humboldt Craft Spirits and perfectly paired appetizers by Brett Shuler Fine Catering. The evening’s flow includes one-of-a-kind musical entertainment, keynote speaker, and witty banter – capped off with the Strong Woman of the Year award to the 2018 Honoree.

Join the ladies of Wild Souls Ranch in Fortuna on September 21st, 2018 from 6pm – 8pm to celebrate the strong, visionary women of Humboldt County and the impact they have had on the world!

This is a 21+ event. Tickets are only $25 each and space is very limited! Grab yours quickly at elegantandslightlyrowdy.bpt.me.

Its sounds like a well intentioned cause.

“A woman is the full circle. Within her, she has the power to create, nurture, and transform,”

Well, no. I mean, no more so than a male. Both sexes can create but neither can create human life without the the other.

“I often get flack for drinking whiskey, as it’s considered a man’s drink. But as women, we have the power to do anything a man can do – and often better!”

I wonder if she drinks it specifically because some see drinking whiskey as masculine. If you want to be divisive and anti-egalitarian about it, I would bet that men do better at a whiskey drinking contest than women, on average. I just can’t see why that matters to her. The “anything you can do, I can do better” attitude is juvenile and off putting, coming from either sex.

Cant we be different and equal at once?

Well said.
I’m confused as to what their agenda is.
If you’re not receiving “flack” for being yourself, you’re not being your self.
With that said, I hope each individual learns how to grow a thicker skin while they learn how to appreciate the quirks that makes them them, lest they all turn into a bundle of one ‘them’ that needs ‘them’ to lick their wounds on an hourly basis.

Leah Pritchett drives a 10,000 horse power dragster from a dead stop to 325mph in 1000 ft, in less than 4 seconds. No stigmas there. The panama canal was widened to allow the biggest ships passage through. The chief engineer, as well as the chief design engineer for the lockes to control the water, are women. No stigmas there. Now, there are stigma’s women face. For instance, Hamas, a terrorist group, will not allow women to ride a 25 horsepower motor scooter. They say they are to dangerous. How is it that men in some cultures deny women and others the right to ride a motor scooter? Because we teach the kid’s in our school, no one has the right to tell them, boy or girl, that they cannot ride a scooter, or drive a dragster. No Muslim stigmas here. No superiority stigmas here. The only thing you can’t do, is what you tell yourself you cannot do. Unless you live under the rule of Muslim men, then there is a stigma.

That’s a good point. Now that most of the world’s Christian’s have liberal reinterpretations of their religious text, and have come inline with modern enlightenment views, it’s mostly the Muslim world where women are not treated equally.

We do have persistent divisive myths, such as the “gender pay gap” to battle in the west.
