vegetation fire iconA wildfire is burning near Fort Seward. Multiple fire departments and agencies including Cal Fire, Blocksburg, and Fruitland Ridge have sent equipment and crews to fight it.

The fire which started around 1 p.m. near Stewart Ranch Road by the Alderpoint Road was threatening a structure, according to reports from the scene. However, the fire is continuing to spread through vegetation.

Attempts to reach Cal Fire for more information have been unsuccessful.

UPDATE 2:25 p.m.: According to a parent of a student, Casterlin School called her and asked her to get her child. “They said no immediate threat but abundance of caution and all afterschool programs are canceled,” according to the parent.

Scanner says accessing off of casterlin road. There is private equipment working and sounds like they are jumping on this fire quick. Getting on the fire fast, quick and in a hurry makes all the difference in the world. Alder crew 1 is passing thru alderpoint now and sounds like they are doing as well as can be expected. Hope everyone stays safe and thanks for doing the best they can

We need to spray an arson bug with Roundup. These fires are not starting by magic.
