[UPDATE 8:50 p.m.: Reopened] Hwy 36 Closed After New Fire Breaks Out East of Platina

Caltrans’ QuickMap shows the closure because of the Gulch Fire next to Platina. The red area to the north is the footprint of the Carr Fire.

Cal Fire announced around 10 a.m. that Hwy 36 is now closed between Platina Road and the R Wild Horse Ranch after the Gorge Fire began spreading this morning north of Beegum Gorge and east of Hwy 36.

UPDATE 8:50 p.m.: Caltrans just posted on Facebook, “SR 36 west of Red Bluff and near Platina Rd is open as of Sunday evening.”
