Humboldt & Del Norte Central Labor Council Endorses Leslie Castellano for Eureka City Council

This is a press release from the Humboldt & Del Norte Central Labor Council:

EUREKA, CA – At  the delegates meeting on August 14th the Humboldt & Del Norte Central Labor Council  voted for progress and inclusion by endorsing Leslie Castellano for Eureka City Council. The Labor Council noted Leslie’s community involvement, vision of the future, and sustained commitment to the voters of the 1st ward. Additionally her safety, economic, and housing platform and policies reflect the values of working families standing together.

Leslie has lived and worked in Eureka for most of the past 14 years. She is the director of Synapsis and the board Vice-President of the Ink People. Caring for people and building community has always been at the core of all of her work. Leslie is familiar with the energy and organization it takes to develop projects that include feedback and input from a wide range of perspectives, and she has years of experience in creating working relationships between organizations and citizens.  We believe Leslie will use these strengths to build opportunities for collaboration and growth in Eureka’s 1st Ward.

“Leslie is the right choice for Eureka’s 1st Ward.” Said Mike Hetticher, Labor Council President, “She has the skills and ability to make her vision of a more inclusive, progressive, and viable 1st ward happen. I am particularly impressed with her well thought out and clear policies concerning community safety, housing, youth involvement, sustainable economic growth, and arts and culture.” For more information on Leslie Castellano for Eureka City Council Ward 1, we encourage you to visit her website at www.leslieforeureka.com.

If you think she is best candidate, I will not vote for her. How is she going to help the poor, and working poor. Is she trying to reverse the illegal gas tax? Is she going to lower property taxes? Is she going to go out and recruit companies to put their business here, or part of it, to help employ people? Welfare does not help people, it enslaves them. Real jobs with living wages are the best thing that can be done, not govt assist crap programs. How about getting rid of the illegal aliens, so we can eliminate the tremendous financial burden they impose on us. And please, don’t start in about “they do jobs white people won’t do.” , because that is just bullshit. My uncle picked cotton every year he was in high school to help the family budget. He was one of many white folks picking cotton, fruits, and vegetables. Show us [edit], how will you help the poor?

One of Castellano’s so-called opponents, Caroline Brooks, has made a mess 💩 of things for herself in the blog comments section over at SO HUM PARLANCE today. Eric Kirk wrote a story questioning whether or not Caroline Brooks was a REAL candidate for Eureka City Council? She has a Facebook “campaign” page, but according to Eric Kirk’s story, there doesn’t appear to be much else in the way of a real campaign. Ms. Brooks became very defensive in a comment she left about her Facebook page’s misrepresentation of her occupational history. Truth in advertising is a virtue, Ms. Brooks!
