Thanks for the update. Where is the best place to get current information, not info from 5 or 6 hours ago?
The front line… grab some gear and report back to us ASAP
Exactly what I was thinking.
We just moved to hayfork awhile back,is this normal for around here? Weve spent our hole summer in smoke! Very scary!
It’s hard to say what is normal. Fires are normal every summer in this part of the country. I’ve lived in fire country my whole life and pretty much every 3rd year makes for a smoky summer and every 5th or 6th year there is a fire close by.
This has been one of the lightest years for smoke (in hayfork vicinity) since 2014 if my memory serves me correct.
So no, this is not normal. Normally we have smoke for way more than the 3 weeks weve had it thus far this summer.
The first 2 weeks of the carr fire the smoke went north and east only…we were pretty lucky.
Sure is.
Yes lived in the area my whole life fire is very common here. It’s like this every year.
is a PG&E dam / power station at that location.
If you are ever driving out along 36 and need to get a txt or email out the R-Wild Horse Ranch store has free wifi.
#GorgeFire is holding at 75 acres with 20% containment. Forward spread has been stopped. Highway 36 remains closed between Platina Rd and the R ranch.
Thank you

#GorgeFire update. 155 acres with 40% containment. Highway 36 remains closed. Firefighters will remain at scene overnight and through the day tomorrow mopping up hot spots.
