House Fire on Humboldt Hill Last Night
Earlier Chapter: House on Fire in King Salmon
On 8/14/18, Tuesday Night at 1147 pm. Humboldt Bay Fire responded to a structure fire at the 6300 Block of Loma Dr. on Humboldt Hill.
Humboldt Bay Fire responded with 3 engines, 1 truck and 2 chief officers. While responding the 911 center was receiving multiple calls for the fire and the response was increased to a 2nd alarm bringing 2 additional units and 1 chief officer.
The first arriving engine found a large two story residence with heavy fire involvement and fire threatening neighboring residences. Large hose lines and master streams were put into operation to protect the neighboring residences and control the fire. A downed power line limited the crew’s ability to approach the structure.
The fire was controlled in approximately 2 hours and fire units remained on scene until 0230 am. to completely extinguish the fire.
There were no civilian or firefighter injuries reported.
The residence is a total loss with damage estimated at $600,000.
The neighboring residences were threatened but were not damaged by the fire however crews did remove some water from one of the residences.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
