Humboldt State Classes Begin August 20

Welcome Back to Humboldt State!


Humboldt State is welcoming back students for the Fall Semester.

August 20 is the first day of classes. This year’s move-in features a pop-up thrift store on Tuesday, Aug. 14 from 1 to 5 p.m. in the Cypress lawn, east of the Jolly Giant Commons.

A second pop up thrift store will take place during the Alternative Transportation Fair on Friday, Aug. 17 at 9:30 a.m. in the Redwood Bowl Plaza. The fair is part of the mandatory freshman orientation program.

The thrift store has a wide selection of materials for dorm rooms and small apartments, including bedding, clothes, kitchen supplies, shower caddies, and more. The items were collected during move out in spring of this year, cleaned and prepared to resell.

Proceeds from the sales go directly to the Oh SNAP! student food program. The sale will accept cash and credit cards.

Several events will take place to welcome HSU students back to campus:

Move-In Day

Tuesday, August 14

Most new freshmen move in to the HSU Residence Halls from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Transfer and returning students move in after 6 p.m. that same day through Monday, August 20.

Fall Welcome

Friday, August 17, 8:30-9:30 a.m.

HSU President Lisa Rossbacher will deliver remarks to HSU employees and community guests in the Van Duzer Theatre.

Part Time Job Fair

Wednesday, August 22, 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.

Meet with local on- and off-campus employers who are ready to hire now! More than 35 employers will be on the HSU Quad recruiting to fill part-time job opportunities, hand out applications, and collect resumes. For a complete list of jobs and career opportunities, go to HSU Handshake at
