Press release from the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office:

The Humboldt County Animal Shelter is offering reduced-rate adoptions for dogs through August 10, 2018.

Due to the shelter’s dog kennels being over capacity, adoption fees for dogs who have resided at the shelter since April 2018 or earlier are now only $35. Adoption fees for Pitbull and Pitbull-mix breeds are now $80. Cats remain at their regular adoption price.

Adoptable dogs are neutered or spayed, microchipped, up to date on shots and temperament tested. Some dogs also have had obedience training classes.

The animal shelter’s currently available, adoptable pets are listed online and updated daily at petharbor.com and petfinder.com. The shelter is located at 980 Lycoming Ave in McKinleyville. The shelter’s normal operating hours are Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m., and Tuesday and Thursdays from 10 a.m. – 7 p.m.

If the dog I got from there last summer liked other dogs…I’d get more! The staff was correct on what they observed in her, and she goes everywhere with us now, even hiking. Don’t be afraid to get mid age dog…mine is Stellar! GO ADOPT a friend!
