Caltrans warns motorists that “State Route 299 is closed to Westbound traffic at JF Kennedy Memorial Rd (SHA CO) near Whiskeytown Lake and to Eastbound traffic at the Junction of State Route 3 near Douglas City (TRI Co)… .” However, there is a detour. Eastbound traffic is detouring south on Hwy 3 at Douglas City and then connecting with Hwy 36 and continuing east to I-5. Trucks larger than 65′ have to choose a different route. See here for more information.

Dear Ms. Kemp. Any news on trailer that possibly started fire?
News reported today that it was sparks caused from a flat tire on travel trailer that started the fire.
Weaverville and hayfork are running out of gas, literally.
With no fuel trucks making it into Weaverville (and I assume Hayfork) the gas station yesterday only had Diesel and Premium. They’ll be out of premium soon. I didn’t check the 3 gas stations in town, just one. But heads up.
We live on Rock Creek Road, Old Shasta.
Can anyone tell me
1) where is that fire now…and where is it headed?
2). Are the fire folks going to do a backfire to keep fire from coming towards Old Shasta?
Make note Humboldt.
Where is California’s firefighter tanker (19,000 gals), the Boeing 747? Hmmmm?
Possible orders from U.S. Inc. Forest Dept., grounding the 747. And CA. INC., just rolls over and pees in the air whenever U.S. Inc. barks.
>”They’ll be out of premium soon. I didn’t check the 3 gas stations in town, just one. But heads up.”
Assume they would buy gas from Eureka ??? But you never know.
It’s all about where a fuel truck can go.
Maybe the stretch between willow creek and junction city is not advised /allowed for such trucks.
I dunno.

Hwy 299 is rated for big trucks. They haul spent nuclear fuel out of Humboldt by that route.
Fire and moon from Oregon summit. Looks like it’s moving east and west:

I was able to buy regular gas in Weaverville today.
I had to take the detour across 3 to 36 this afternoon. Redding is buried in smoke. This CHP officer has been doing an update every evening. It didn’t look good tonight. https://www.facebook.com/chpredding/videos/873375986179639/
