This is a press release from Briceland Vineyards Winery:

July 21 – September 3, Healdsburg Center for the Arts is hosting Intertwined, a Juried National Fiber Exhibition.  The show features 65 fiber art pieces from across the country including a 29” X 34” coiled, crocheted tapestry, Fire in the Field, by local artist Rosie Saxe Morris.  More information about the show can be seen at this web address:  https://healdsburgcenterforthearts.org/fiber/  The catalog for the show can be view at this address:  https://healdsburgcenterforthearts.org/wp-content/uploads/2018/07/IntertwineCatalog.pdf.  Fire in the Field is on page 35.

Rosie has a BFA in Fiber Arts from Syracuse University in New York State.  She is a member of the Humboldt Hand Weavers and Spinners Guild and Humboldt Arts Council.  Her work was recently shown at The Corner Gallery in Ukiah.  Rosie’s current works are based on a variety of interpretations of coiled basketry.  Rosie lives in the tiny hamlet of Briceland in Southern Humboldt with her daughter Stella and her husband Andrew.  Together they own and run Briceland Vineyards Winery.

Rosie’s work can be seen at Briceland Vineyards Winery, Arts Alive in Garberville at Tranquility Lane Flowers on October 5th and on her Rosie Saxe Facebook Page.  She can be reached at [email protected].

About the Show

Healdsburg Center for the Arts is honored and proud to present this national fiber exhibition.

Intertwined [fiber from on extreme to the other] is exactly what the title describes..art from the humble woven basket to the conceptual political statement. The exhibition runs from July 21 to September 3, 2018. We hope you can come to the Opening Reception on July 21, 5-7pm and the Closing Tea and Salon, September 3, 2-4pm. At these events, you will be able to meet the artists and enjoy refreshment as well as the art.

We are hosting numerous demos and other activities to delve deeper into the world of fiber and the textile arts. Please go to the website to see the schedule of activities.  https://healdsburgcenterforthearts.org/fiber/

Also on the website, you will find a beautiful digital catalog representing all the artists and their work in the exhibition. You are welcome to print a hardcopy by downloading the PDF.

Thank you,

Vicky Kumpfer

What a beautiful piece of work!!
It is nice to be reminded, in this period of change, that our community is full of accomplished artists. Besides ‘weed’ may Humboldt now get more recognition of that fact!
