About noon a fire broke out at the foot of Del Norte in Eureka. Wind pushed the flames and they spread quickly.

Firefighters arrived on scene though and began to push back. The wind settled down and helped.

We’ll update when we have more information but it does appear that firefighters have gotten a handle on it.

Please remember that information gathered from initial reports is subject to revision as more facts become available.

UPDATE 12:41 p.m.: Firefighters are currently using flares to burn out the remaining areas within the natural barriers.
