Hope everyone is OK. Fella must have tried to cross the road without carefully looking? Feel sorry for the people who hit him. One hell of a thing to live with. That road was much worse when they allowed people to camp there. Lots crossed the highway to fish in the lagoon.

Or maybe the car was going too fast, and the driver forgot that pedestrians have the right of way. There’s all kinds of ways to speculate on it. Let’s hope everybody survives intact.

Actually when you’re on the highway or freeway the pedestrian does NOT have the right of way… Ever notice the signs on on Ramps that say PEDESTRIANS PROHIBITED?

Freeway speed limit is 65 mph; very tough to allow pedestrians ROW at that speed!

Sounds like you’re talking about Freshwater Lagoon where people camped.

This is Big Lagoon and from the map it looks like around the Roundhouse Creek Road turnoff. That is four lanes through there.

Or the driver was distracted and hit someone actually alongside the road. That is what happened to the cyclist hit just a short distance away a few years ago.

No. The guy lost a surfboard from an unsecured load. He ran into the roadway to get it, then ran into the path of the vehicle that had slowed and swung wide to avoid him.

Someone in the “thunderdome” comments section of the post about this on Lost Coast claims to have seen it.
