Correctional Deputy Saves Inmate’s Life

Silva

Press release from the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office:

A Humboldt County Correctional Deputy is credited for saving an inmate’s life on Monday.

On July 2, 2018, Correctional Deputy Anthony Silva was supervising a male minimum-security dorm within the Humboldt County Correctional Facility during what he thought would be an ordinary dinner.

“During dinner time I heard an inmate yell for help,” Deputy Silva said. “I saw an inmate attempting to help another man who was choking on his dinner.”

With just seconds to act, Silva quickly sprang into action, performing the Heimlich maneuver on the inmate. After approximately five to six Heimlich thrusts, the food dislodged from the inmate’s throat. He was later cleared by medical staff at the facility.

Silva’s says medical training provided to correctional staff prepared him for this situation.

”This is something that we train for often. It feels good to use that training to help another person,” Silva said. “Being a correctional deputy isn’t like an ordinary job. We aren’t just here to get a paycheck. We’re here to help these inmates reach their highest potential, to show them there are people that care about them and want to see them succeed.”

Correctional deputies have saved three lives in just the last two months at the Humboldt County Correctional Facility. Silva has assisted in these incidents as well.

There are currently 395 inmates housed at the Humboldt County Correctional Facility. Each shift has approximately 19 correctional deputies that are responsible for the care and custody of the inmates.
Correctional deputies spend an average of 12 hours per day directly interacting with inmates. This style of direct supervision, along with crucial training, has enabled deputies to discern when inmates may be experiencing distress prior to an incident occurring.

Humboldt County Sheriff William Honsal commends Correctional Deputy Silva for his quick thinking and life-saving action.

Great work Officer Silva. Proud of you for your quick action with this inmate. I’ve used it myself on a top Government Official years ago. The training sure pays off if needed. Thank you once more for your quick and decisive action for this inmate. Congratulations.

You can cut open their throat and stick an empty ball point pen in to save them if the heimlich doesn’t work immediately

Good job officer.
Why is he standing in front of a bastardized American flag with a biblical quote on it? Is the correctional facility a faith based organization or something?

I’d like to know more about the flag too.

It’s the blm flag unfurled in response to the black lives matter ambushes that killed and injured officers and innocent people.

It is the blue lives matter with the thin blue line on it, representing that thin line of law enforcement is the only thing protecting people from racist monsters that live to steal, rape, kill, and disrupt commerce.

You drive through a black lives matter neighborhood and everything is boarded up, trash all over the place, liquor stores and check cashing joints, hookers, stray dogs, burnt out cars and buildings, open air drug markets, etc.

These are the black lives matter core values.

If you don’t live in a neighborhood like that, thank a cop for holding the thin blue line against domestic terror groupings and subdivision.

Thank you Law Enforcement.

History for Dummies:

The powerful concentrate wealth in cities/commercial hubs or on large swathes of rural property.

The rich recruit people to do jobs in the city or on the ranch. The employees end up living close by.

The rich complain about having to live near the help. You hear a lot of:. “They smell… it’s like they worked all day” “they live in slums why don’t they have nice shit like us” “they’re different.”

The poor inevitably outnumber the rich. Eventually they acquire means to defend/represent their majority.

Alt right for life your time is up. At least honeydew bridge chump had a sense of humor and respectable amount of basic military knowledge. Your just as ignorant as the cops who will take a shit job betraying their class brethren, thinking that’s how u get ahead.

Ancient ivanka trump quote: build bridges not walls.

Fuck the wall. Fuck the border. Welcome to the 21st century. You wish it was about skin color cuz that makes it categorizable i.e. controllable. It’s about power and we’re taking ours back thank you very much.

It’s our flag, desecrated. And the bible quote violates the highest law of our land that says there should be a separation of church and state. I’m glad this guy is doing a great job, but this flag is a disturbing for a few reasons.

The thin blue line flag with an unattributed quote is perfectly fine. I don’t know where you guys get this outlandish stuff. Lay off the funky granola.

They need to put down the bong, as they aren’t even living in areas affected by blm racist gangs, yet are sympathetic to a cause they can never be part of due to their DNA.

Police hold society together and it is a thin line between civilization and violence, ask anyone that has to deal with illegal marijuana growers.

Marijuana growers embrace black lives matter, because it takes the heat off them and gives them a false noble sense of fighting the machine, which growers pre 95 actually had, before young know it all trash ruined the scene so bad the government took it from them while they asked for it.

What else can I say but nothing makes sense since Jerry died.

Only a well geared police force with armored vehicles, all weather helicopter support, missiles in space, and A10 aircraft can save the country.

That and a wall on both borders….

There is no “separation of church and state” in any founding document. All colonies were Christian, but many denominations. The founders did not want a state religion (as you found in Virginia, for instance). Atheists and lefties love to misquote and obfuscate.

Get your panties untwisted! Its a piece of art on the wall! Get over yourself already! It might look similar to the US flag but its not the flag of the country.

Esme, if you don’t like that flag move to North Korea. I am 100% law enforcement, and there is nothing wrong with the flag. The officers are all heros in my book!!!

With all the deaths that occur in there they’re trying to find a hero. Try finding one without heroine eyes. And that funky flag with the religious tones is bullshit.

Damn good work officer Silva!

I am guessing that being a correctional officer is generally a pretty stressful and depressing job. I certainly wouldn’t want to do it.

Saving a life should give Silva a great memory for the rest of his days.

And hopefully the inmate will realize he just had a new life handed to him and take it in a better direction.

Can’t believe someone hasn’t said “shoulda let him choke” yet, we’re making progress. Well that’ll give Mr. Inmate some cold sweats in the middle of the night for a while thinking he almost died.

Alt Wrong for Life: I’ve worked for black doctors, nurses, lawyers …. Since you obviously haven’t been around a lot of black folks, you might want to keep your Nazi claptrap to yourself.
Your description of a “black neighborhood” sounds just like the poorest white parts of Humboldt. You were describing poverty.

As if doctors, lawyers and the like are part of that movement.

Reach inside your soul and figure out why you would join a movement that is only based on the color of your skin and not works?

Put down the bong, get a job, do anything in your community except deal and grow drugs.

Major fail is staring from your mirror, major fail.

This kind of news is so gratifying. It’s easy to vilify all law enforcement but there are a few good apples. Thank you Sheriff Silva!
