[UPDATE 11:57 p.m.; 101 Open] Gunshot Victims on 101; Major Incident Impeding Traffic by Willits Grade; Medevac Requested
At approximately 4:30 p.m. an incident occurred around mile marker 37 on Hwy 101 on the Willits Grade involving a red Chevrolet pickup in the southbound lanes against the center divider. According to scanner traffic, there are at least two gunshot victims with shots to the head.
A Reach helicopter has flown one victim to Santa Rosa Memorial
According to scanner traffic, one person is deceased.
The incident commander is requesting Caltrans come to the scene as this is going to be an “extended investigation.” There is a request for cones and longterm traffic control.
Southbound traffic is being diverted at Ridgewood Ranch onto the Old Hwy 101.

UPDATE 6:09 p.m.: According to Jonathan Beck, a truck driver heading north, southbound traffic is backed up at the scene of the accident about a mile and a half long and is also stopped at the Golden Rule Mobile Home village and stopped about another mile and a half. He added that emergency personnel is still trying to get through so if you are stuck in traffic try to move to the right to allow them through.
UPDATE 6:14 p.m.: A BOLO has been put out for a possible witness.

UPDATE 6:17 p.m.: According to an email from CHP spokesperson Evie Sabini, “No traffic allowed south. Turning it around to go back North.”
UPDATE 8:22 p.m.: According to a CHP spokesperson, southbound traffic is still closed. Northbound traffic is allowed to go through.
UPDATE 8:50 p.m.: A CHP helicopter is parked just south of the crime scene.UPDATE 9:12 p.m.: The Mendocino Voice has a text message sent out by the Mendocino Sheriff’s Department with new information about a suspect. (See update 8:45 p.m.) Basically, it adds that the suspect is believed to have left on foot and may be hitchhiking.
