Motorcyclist Injured After Crash Sunday

This is a press release from the California Highway Patrol. The information has not been proven in a court of law and any individuals described should be presumed innocent until proven guilty:

[Brian Cory] French was riding his Triumph motorcycle at a stated speed of 70 plus mph south on Lower Mad River Road as he entered into a right hand curve in the roadway. Due to his speed, French could not maintain the correct turning movement and drifted across the northbound lane. French then impacted the concrete bridge barrier and continued in a southeasterly direction before coming to rest on a the dirt grass shoulder.

French was transported to Redwood Memorial Hospital in Fortuna California by a private party for treatment of multiple lacerations, abrasions and a possible broken leg. It is unknown at this time if he was wearing a helmet and alcohol was not a factor in this collision.CHP Brian French

They don’t have the full story. This is my brother, when he came into the corner there was a deer in the road and trying to avoid hitting it caused him to hit the bridge. Speed and is not the reason he crashed

Patch, just glad your brother Brian is OK. I ride and it leaves you naked as a jay bird. Best wishes for a speedy recovery.

Glad he’s ok but speed is a factor if you crash at 70 on a 35 Mph road. School buses and locals use that road…if he wants to go fast lovely to Hwy 36..

Avoiding a collision and maintaining control at 35 mph is easier than at 70 mph.

His stated speed was 70+, but speed wasn’t the reason he crashed. Sure it wasn’t.

So it’s news when you hurt yourself in a single person accident? No tickets, no real news here. only embarrassing to the person

Yes indeed that technique works wonders for avoiding a BAD case of Road Rash, such as was received by this unlucky individual!!!
