EPD Does High-Risk Traffic Stop on Stolen Vehicle; One Arrested
One of the men detained has a felony probation warrant out of Del Norte County and was arrested. Eureka Police are still sorting out the rest but the basic story is that one man sold a car to a friend. The car was still unregistered in the new name when it was stolen. The guy that sold the car saw it and called law enforcement.
Eureka Police performed a high-risk traffic stop on the stolen car. Inside the vehicle, there were three occupants. One was arrested as mentioned above. Neither of the other two has warrants or possessed weapons. The theft investigation is ongoing, according to Eureka Police spokesperson Brittany Powell. The two occupants are detained while officers investigate.
Please remember that information gathered from initial reports is subject to revision as more facts become available.
