Mike McGuire, State Senator, Far Ahead and So Is Assemblyman Jim Wood

State Senator Mike McGuire has announced he has won in a landslide. This is somewhat disconcerting for Humboldt voters as a relatively small amount of their votes have been counted at this point. However, the Press Democrat reports both Mike McGuire and Assemblyman Jim Wood have “lopsided wins” in the primaries after folks in the more populated precincts assured them of high numbers.

McGuireMike McGuire’s press release is below:

State Senator Mike McGuire has won his primary in a landslide, his campaign announced this evening.

“Serving as State Senator has been the honor of my life,” said McGuire. I am so grateful to have this opportunity to work day in and day out on behalf of the hard working folks of the North Coast and I can’t say thank you enough to those who have brought us this far.”

“Tonight is a night for celebration and an opportunity to say thank you to those who have worked so hard on behalf of our grassroots campaign in every corner of this big and beautiful district,” McGuire continued. “Tomorrow, we’ll be back to work and focused on making even more investments in our kids and public schools, rebuilding stronger from the devastating fire storm, protecting our coast and environment, creating family-sustaining jobs and, together, stopping the Trump administration from reversing years of progress here in the Golden State.”

McGuire now advances to the November 6 general election. “While the North Coast has faced challenges over the last 3.5 years, I know by working together, our best days are still ahead,” said McGuire. “We’re going to fight every day to ensure a strong California leads the way forward.”
