Does anyone recall Western Culture pertaining to horse theft?

Bad things happen when a people lose the roots of their culture.

Look around and ask yourself, ‘why?’

It was not Western Culture. It was wild west pseudo culture. Probably what you are specifically thinking is really Western Movie Justice. People tended to take justice into their own hands because there was no alternative. There were few authorities and few ways to hold people in prison. And think of the number of times that translated into a miscarriage of justice.

The roots of our culture are a mash up of Ancient Greek, heavily filtered through Ancient Roman law. The Ancient Romans were even more addicted to litigation than we are. So we’re here because the dang Ancient Romans were most impressed by the Art of Rhetoric and law making.
