Poor Margit; she has known dementia was sneaking up on her. She’s a nice lady. I hope she’s found safe.

I really hope we find her! Does anyone want to organize a search party? I love this woman. She was a customer of mine when I used to work in Redway and she is always so sweet and kind.

Margit is a dear soul with a soft spot for critters, especially cats. We hope she is found soon.

Piercy neighbors and Mendocino Sheriff Search Rescue together with CalFire have been combing the hills here in Piercy since she disappeared into the wee hours and are still looking. Margit was wearing a purple shirt and dark blue capris according to the info being released from the authorities.

Seems like a job for K9 tracker. We should be training up more local dogs for situations like these.

Does no one use Bloodhounds or tracking dogs for finding missing persons anymore?

It’s still done, and it’s a noble calling for both dog and handler. A friend of mine recently attended Dick Staal’s 2 week Super K9 seminar in Colorado with training in tracking and detection. Apparently the majority of call outs are for Alzheimers or Autistic persons who are at great risk when they wander. Dogs are a marvel, and even my untrained Shepherd has a serious knack for tracking.

Ive met Margarit and even exchanged hellos a few times but i am not close enough to have knowledge of her current living situation. However, having myself moved back here last year to attend to an elderly mom, i know the challenges associated with helping a close family member through this last stage of life. I think this is the second (maybe third) time this calender year Margarit has wandered. Perhaps her caregiver (if she has one) or some close community members could research a gps chip of some kind or even just one of tbose ‘Tile’s’ which could be sewn into her coat or somehow attached to one of her hiking shoes. Im not being a smart-arse (for once), i really think this would be worth looking into in her case specifically. It might at least make her a lot easier to find and return home safely without all the resources currently deployed and at best it could avoid a serious tragedy what with usual lions and bears doing their things and her being a slight 5ft, 110 lbs I pray she doesnt try to pet any of those critters and she gets returned home safely..
