Elderly Male Reported Stabbed in the Abdomen

StabbingAt approximately 11:17 a.m., dispatch called for medical assistance from Rio Dell Fire in the 200 block of Wildwood Avenue in Rio Dell. According to traffic over the scanner, an elderly male had been stabbed in the stomach with an unknown object.

The suspect reportedly fled the area on a bicycle towards Scotia.

Please remember that information gathered from initial reports is subject to revision as more facts become available.

UPDATE 2:05 p.m.: According to Samantha Karges of the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office, “We received a call for the report of a stabbing that occurred in the middle of the Eagle Prairie Bridge between 10:30 and 11 a.m. Karges said that a 67-year-old male Rio Dell resident was going for a walk and as he returned over the bridge, he encountered a man riding a bicycle.

“He told the man ‘you can’t ride your bike on the bridge,” Karges explained. “The male became hostile towards him. As the victim tried to keep walking, the male subject assaulted him with the bike and struck him in the head.”

The victim and the suspect became involved in a physical altercation, Karges said. “The suspect stabbed the victim…The weapon is unknown.”

Karges said, “The victim was able to get away. He was transported to Redwood Memorial Hospital.”

The man had a stab wound in his left abdomen, according to Karges. He was conscious and talking and able to walk when medical arrived on scene.

“The male suspect is caucasian,” Karges said. He is 5’8″ with a thin build and wearing a beanie. He was last seen riding towards Scotia on a dark colored, newer model mountain bike. “We are asking residents of Scotia to be on the lookout for him,” Karges explained.

Scotia School was not put on lockdown.

Right!!! It wouldn’t have happened if he didn’t talk to him. Especially when he didn’t know if the guy was on drugs or something.

This is what happens when you have the American disease. Sticking your nose where it doesn’t belong.

Actually, it’s called California Penal Code 664, Attempted Murder.
With penalties almost as severe as an actual murder!

My error, the correct California Penal Code is 664/187.

I had a grumpy old man tell me dogs weren’t allowed on school grounds…but he was growing pot plants right by the schoolyard.
