Peace Officers Memorial Day Observed on Wednesday

Sheriff's Badge black bandPress release from the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Department:

On May 15, law enforcement across the nation will observe Peace Officers Memorial Day, a time to remember and honor our fallen brothers and sisters of the Thin Blue Line. This day of remembrance falls during a time where we honor all law enforcement, as May 13-19, 2018 marks National Police Week.

During this week, Humboldt County sheriff’s deputies are wearing mourning bands across their badges in remembrance of the fallen, near and far.

The Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office would like to thank the community for its continued support for Law Enforcement Professionals that keep this county safe. Please join with us in honoring the fallen, those who took an oath to serve and protect, and were taken too soon.

Shame they don’t seem to have such respect for innocent people who get murdered by police.

The various police have helped me about a dozen times in my life, from giving me a ride to the airport when I was stuck beside the road to keeping an intoxicated stranger from making good his threats on the street. Disrespect abounds in the last few years on all sides. But, if given respect, the police have always responded in kind. Sometimes giving respect to a threatening person also responds in kind but less likely.

Try being less angry all the time and you might find you get patience back in return.

At 12:15 pm. there should be a moment of silence for 3 min. In honor of this memorial because that is how long it takes to die from a gunshot wound, in remberance of all the Peace Officers who were fatally injured in the line of duty.

I proudly support all good officers, like (I assume) Sheriff Cox, who support the constitution. I can’t thank these officers enough. You are my heroes.

To all others. You’re fired.
