Late this afternoon, lightning was the likely cause of two fires in Trinity County. A reader reported a fire on Browns Mountain between Lewiston and Weaverville.  Another reader reported that this is called the Trinity Fire and it is approximately two acres. Firefighters have a line around the fire and are bringing it under control.

There is also a 1/4 acre fire reported on Post Mountain that the US Forest Service and Hayfork Volunteers are headed to also. However, it is raining in the area which should help.

Please remember that information gathered from initial reports is subject to revision as more facts become available.

I have a direct view on the “Trinity Fire”, I reported it early to dispatch.

I think it will be a quick control situation based on weather and response.

But if it flares up at any point I’ll post it here in the comments.
