Boys & Girls Club Teen Court’s ‘Second Chances’ Art Show Fundraiser was a Lively Event

This is a press release from Boys & Girls Club of the Redwoods:

Ruby plays music for a crowd

Teen Court’s “Second Chances” art show enjoyed a lively opening reception as part of Arts Alive on Saturday, May 5th at the Ink People in Eureka, 525 7th Street.  This year, the Second Chances art show features youth creatively addressing personal growth, transformation, and the issues teens are facing.  The opening reception included ukulele music and vocals by Ruby L., a Teen Court volunteer. The group teen art show will be up for the month of May, so it is not too late to get out and see it!

The event was Teen Court’s sole fundraising event of the year, with major underwriting provided by Jonathan & Erin Flyer and the Humboldt County Bar Association, and additional sponsorship by Christina Allbright and Mark W Hapgood. Through underwriters, sponsorships, and raffle sales, Boys & Girls Club Teen Court was able to raise just under $9,000.

Teen Court is a diversion program for first-time offenders. It is a court run entirely by teens and organizes around the principles of restorative justice and youth empowerment.
