BARTLEY

On May 8, 2018, at about 6:50 p.m., a Humboldt County sheriff’s deputy on patrol in the Garberville area observed a man riding a bicycle on Locust St. while wearing headphones. The man, later identified as 39 –year-old Christopher Jason Bartley of Arcata, failed to stop at a stop sign, turning east onto Conger St. The deputy initiated a traffic stop on the bicycle at Cedar St.

The deputy discovered that Bartley was on probation with a search clause. While searching Bartley, the deputy found 25 individually packaged bags of heroin, a digital scale, methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia.

Bartley was arrested and booked into the Humboldt County Correctional Facility on charges of possession for sale of a controlled substance and violation of probation.

It’s sad to see the deputy didn’t also tack on operating a bicycle without a license because that is California state law.

The Officer didn’t “tack” it on because that’s NOT California state law. You aren’t required to have a license to operate a bicycle in California. CVC 39002 allows local authorities to implement mandatory licensing for bicycles and prohibit unlicensed riding.

Naming the supplier is the only way to rid our community. What is LEOs stance on going after the drug cartels in Humboldt. The NY Times article didn’t touch this topic of course because everyone is afraid of the cartels. I don’t feel that our local law enforcement is equipped to break down the supply chain. Since there is recent evidence of human trafficking and a death by overdose related to Human trafficking, why isn’t ICE or the FBI being brought it. It makes you wonder who is being paid hush money to only bust the street purveyors and not the suppliers. This goes deeper than is reported in the news.

The more PC culture takes over the more the Mexican cartels flourish. You’ve got groups in Humboldt having rally’s promoting illegal aliens and anti law enforcement , specifically ICE. These same people are puppets for the cartels and scream racism whenever they get a chance. The fact is : California harbors cartels and the fringe illegals that keep their game going. An illegal most likely paid a cartel to get into this country. Once in this country they still live under the umbrella of Cartels as they have there hooks into that population of people and many legal imagrants as they run the culture through fear and their own imposed rule. Yet the culture and race of people put up with it and basically allow it to grow. Until law enforcement in California and other places see the population as a whole as the problem ( population of illegals ) being they are ILLEGAL , drugs , crime and violence directly or indirectly caused by the Cartels and their drugs , nothing will stop.

Sadly it seems that Local LEO’s only pick the Low Hanging Fruit!!! Those easiest to catch & arrest rather than take the time to do some actual “Police Work”, trying to find those up the chain of supply!!! It’s easier to pick off the street dealers than to “waste time” waiting & looking for the “bigger fish”!!!

Have you not been reading the news? Almost every week a news release of multiple pound arrests is issued. The cops are doing their jobs, its our politicians that are not. Being a drug dealer is considered a non-violent crime. Thus, no prison time. Thank you California politicians and liberal voters!

Lots of comments about nailing the suppliers. Where do think all the smack and crack is coming from? If you support “open borders”, you support this.

I know & don’t approve, of many born & raised local growers, who turned to selling powders vs pot, since it’s profit margin is similar to the good ol days when pounds flew out the door at $4000 each. There are cartel connections around but who ya think let them in on it?

Getting the supplier will only slow it down for a very short time and someone else will take their place. As long as there is a demand there will be a supply, simple economics.

That’s fine and great they got the heroin off the street but to get rosted for running a stop sign on that street in garberville which I lived all my life is totally absurd and ridiculous i myself have had issues with cops in garberville arresting me for improper lighting on a bicycle just to have it all dismissed due to their conduct

Initiated traffic stop on a bicycle? Does that include lights and siren? That would be a sight to see
