Eat, Bid, and Dance in Honor of Wild Souls Ranch on May 12th

This is a press release from Wild Souls Ranch:

You’re invited to join Wild Souls Ranch for the first time ever at their new ranch in Fortuna, on Saturday May 12th, 2018 for their 5th Annual Silver Spurs Gala. While sipping house made, signature cocktails, supporters will have the chance to meet the hardworking Wild Souls Ranch horses and tour their new facility. The Gala will feature gourmet, local food catered by Shamus T-Bones and Dorris and Daughter Catering. A no-host beer, wine, and signature cocktail bar will be stocked all night long by your favorite local businesses. The live and silent auction is packed with unique and exciting auction packages, one of a kind local art, and experiences including getaways to Napa Valley and Kentucky Whiskey Adventures! They’ll have live music and dancing under the stars to cap off the night by local honky-tonk band, The Detours.

Since launching the organization in June of 2014, Wild Souls Ranch has continued to rapidly gain the support of the Humboldt County Community. In October of 2017, a parcel of land that was originally slated to be a 55,000-square foot marijuana farm was purchased by local Brown family, and was graciously offered to be the new home of Wild Souls Ranch. Founder and Executive Director, Savanah McCarty, feels blessed to have gained the enormous amount of support from the public since committing to her dream of starting this nonprofit organization. “This property donation is monumental for Wild Souls Ranch! Not only is this a dream come true, but this means we will be able to grow as an organization and our possibilities have tripled. We are currently developing our equine program to include a therapeutic wraparound program for youth adopted out of foster care, parenting classes, community wellness classes, summer camps, and a veterans program to begin in early 2019.” she said.

The Silver Spurs Gala supports scholarships and services for children like Joey*, a sweet young boy who was removed from his home after a life of horrific abuse in which he experienced torture, and both physical and sexual abuse. His young life was marked by isolation in a small closet for days with no food if he disobeyed, and exposure to constant domestic violence and sexual assault. He was trained to be dominant, violent and disrespectful specifically towards women but he was also terrified, angry and alone. When he first came to Wild Souls Ranch through his adoptive parents, he could not be touched, needed to be in complete control and could not be in small spaces like the tack room. Now, after time spent with WSR staff and volunteers, and his favorite horse Tuff, he canhug and laugh. He has learned about safe relationships and respect, and is doing better in school and at home.

The entire team behind Wild Souls Ranch is working hard to make this a successful fundraiser. “I’m hoping to raise enough funds to dramatically offset our costs to run our program for the next year”, says Fundraising Director, Mariah Lewis, “Most of our youth participate in our program through scholarships, so these funds are very important to the number of participants we are able to serve.” This year’s Gala is a unique opportunity for supporters to tour Wild Souls Ranch, and connect with their staff, volunteers, and board of directors.

Tickets are limited this year, so purchase in advance at wild-souls-ranch.org or ssg2018.brownpapertickets.com.

The first one works great now, but the second one (at the close of the article) still doesn’t.
