Mary Jane: A Musical Potumentary and a 4/20 Party in Eureka
Press release from Dell’Arte International:
In 2011, Dell’Arte International premiered Mary
Jane: The Musical at its annual Mad River Festival in Blue Lake. Partnering with 12 local songwriters, the play featured Humboldt County-centric characters facing various issues in the marijuana milieu. Quickly gained notoriety, the show was a sellout hit and at the time was the highest-grossing play in Dell’Arte’s 40-year history. Wrote the Los Angeles Times…The Dell’Arte Company is excited to announce that Mary Jane: A Musical Potumentary will now be available to the world on VOD 4.20 from Green Apple Entertainment. The release party will begin at 4:20 p.m. on 4/20 (April 20th) and will be held at, wait for it, 420 2nd Street in Eureka at the Buzzards Nest across from the Gazebo, and everybody is invited!

Dear Dell’Arte!
Please, please, PLEASE be sure the equipment is appropriate for this screening! The one we saw about a year ago at the Mateel was horrendous, and made the already challenged film look very dark.
I have long loved the material and stage work of Dell’Arte. I love productions that take chances. Yet when you do, your risk factor for failure increases exponentially. This film suffers from some of that. Yet! The film has much that the Emerald Triangle audiences will appreciate, ‘get’ and find humorous. Wish I could be there, to see if a well presented screening would change my experience and opinion of this ambitious production.
PS: Yikes. Just watched the trailer. Reminds me of how much better this worked on stage than on screen. Ok. Shutting up now. Hope people will love it and prove me very wrong!
The film has been remastered and cut some since the Mateel. It also won best musical at the Oregon Film Festival. We are not doing a screening on 4/20, just a party/event to celebrate that the film is now out in the world on VOD. Amazon is the best platform to get it on. Thanks for your thoughts and for your ongoing support of Dell’Arte.
