Kym, do you happen to know how many traffic fatalities have occurred in the county since January 1? It seems like there’s at least one per week now.
North Coast Journal puts the count at 5.
Kym, is there any update to this story?
I’m sorry. I haven’t heard of one.
Thank you.
No seat belt. So sad.
Is there an update to this story?
Have they updated the identity of the man who died?
I was there that night, looking on from Boyd Road. The man who died was thrown over 300 feet from where the Porche he was driving, struck a concrete drainage abutment. The car did a couple of horizontal flips, ejecting the driver airborne-well above a 7 1/2.ft. high cyclone fence and landing about 60-80 ft. inside the yard/gravel parking lot of Trinity Diesel.
To my rough calculations, a human body would have to be going around 130-140mph to travel over 300 ft in the air like that !
The debris field was over 500ft. in length ! Cal Trans came along about daybreak and dutifully swept the roadways and weed-whacked the entire 1/4 mile stretch. Like erasing a chalk board.
When they left, it looked as if nothing had happened.
Well, the CHP didnt seem to do much of an investigation. There was a lot of standing around, staring; head-scratcing.
I filmed anout 45 minutes of it.
To me it felt like they were just maybe stereotyping…because it was a black man, late night, excessive speed in a 2001 Porsche 911 Carrera. No skid marks on the pavement.
We prayed for the man. He probably has children somewhere. Maybe I should apologise for editorializing so much here, but thats my story and Im stickin’ to it.
