Man Waiting While Wife Shopped Was Victim of Carjacking

This is a press release from the Willits Police Department. The information has not been proven in a court of law and any individuals described should be presumed innocent until proven guilty:

Just after 2 p.m. on Thursday, March 8th, 2018, Willits Police Department Officers were dispatched to the area of the Evergreen Shopping Center for a report of a carjacking. The victim was sitting in the passenger seat of his vehicle while his wife was shopping.

[Ashley Brad] Schucker got into the driver’s seat and threatened to harm the victim if he didn’t get out of the vehicle. Officers responded to the scene and while speaking to the victim the car was located by Park Rangers and later the Califoarnia Highway Patrol. Schucker fled from officers but was later apprehended near Bell Springs Road and Highway 101 by Californa Highway Patrol officers after a pursuit. Schucker was arrested for carjacking and evading law enfforcement.The Willits Police Department would like to thank the California Highway Patrol and California State Park Rangers for their assistance.The Willits Police Department would like to remind the public of several safety tips; while driving or waiting in your vehicle lock your doors, keep your valuables such as purses out of sight possibly on the floorboard of your vehicle and if you have to stop or are approaching intersections be aware of your surroundings.
