Cal-OSHA and the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office Investigate Death of Contractor in Yesterday’s Accident Near Hydesville
Press release from the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office:
On March 7, 2018 at about 9:30 a.m., Humboldt County sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to a property on the 2500 block of Hill Ln. in Hydesville for the report of an industrial accident.[Note: the incident happened just after 8 a.m. yesterday, but was handled as a medical call at first. 9:30 was when deputies were dispatched.]
An independent contractor, identified as 42-year-old Scott Eskra of Eureka, was doing tree work on the property when he received fatal injuries from a felled tree branch.
Cal-OSHA and the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office are currently investigating this incident.
An autopsy has been scheduled for Friday, March 9.

Was the limb under so much pressure when he cut it that it killed him? Or did it fall from from the tree striking him? Was he working up a log on the ground? Or falling the tree when it happened? Sad
Excellent questions indeed hopefully the details will come out during or after the investigation!!! Inquiring minds or in my case what passes for a mind want to know!!!
