Pursuit Headed East on Hwy 36 After Passing Fortuna on 101

A Fortuna Police officer was pursuing a charcoal grey Pathfinder with a cracked windshield east on Hwy 36 at speeds of up to 90 mph about 11:20 a.m. Fortuna officer was pursuing the vehicle on Hwy 101 before that when the suspect vehicle fled onto Hwy 36. The male driver ran a stop sign when first entering 36, according to scanner traffic. There was reportedly a passenger also.

The officer eventually discontinued pursuit as the vehicle sped eastbound passing the Carlotta mill site.

I hope he is caught & punished 90 MPH on Hwy 36 is asking for a wreck!!! Sadly likely themselves are NOT the ONLY ones who will likely be affected!!! Some innocents as well are likely to be involved as well!!!

Chase called off for safety reasons and officer has description of vehicle and plates.
