Photography Exhibition ‘Finding Home’ at Eureka’s F Street Foto Gallery This Weekend

James Adam Taylor’s “Finding Home” photography exhibition will be shown at the F Street Foto Gallery above Swanlund’s Camera (527 F Street) in Eureka in March. The opening artist reception will be Saturday, March 3 from 6 to 9 p.m. during Arts Alive!

“My show ‘Finding Home’ is a documentation of my attempt to understand this region as a newcomer and to grow my understanding of the place I now call home,” said Taylor. “For me, ‘Home’ is knowing a place by the light and the landscape, the rocks, the plants, theweather, the changing moods, and familiarity with humanity’s position within these elements,” said Taylor.

Originally from southern New Jersey, Taylor been exploring Humboldt County since he arrived in the summer of 2014. “Finding Home” is his first gallery exhibition in Humboldt County though elements of this body of work have been displayed previously at the Ocean City Arts Center in Ocean City, New Jersey as part of the 40° West, Solo exhibition (2017) and as part of the Focal Distance group show in 2017 in Philadelphia.

Taylor’s photos have been displayed locally invarious Eureka and Arcata businesses and as a featured artist at Bug Press.Taylor received a Bachelors of Fine Arts with a specialization in photography and printmaking at Rowan University. Since graduating, Taylor has explored much of the country as a hiker on the Appalachian Trail, twice as an AmeriCorps volunteer, and through an apprenticeship in the office of photographer Jon Lowenstein in Chicago.
