EPD’s K-9 Unit Tracks Down Fleeing Parolee Carrying Suspected Heroin

This is a press release from the Eureka Police Department. The information has not been proven in a court of law and any individuals described should be presumed innocent until proven guilty:

On February 20, 2018, at about 4:45 p.m., officers with the Eureka Police Department responded to the area of Hodgson and R Streets for the report of juveniles skateboarding in the roadway. Upon arrival, officers observed a male in the yard of a residence on the 1600 block of Hodgson Street. The male was known to officers and identified as 27 year old Lance Adams. Adams had a felony warrant for parole violation.

Adams attempted to conceal his face and entered the residence. When officers made contact at the residence, Adams fled out the backdoor and into a greenbelt. K-9 Vex was deployed and indicated an odor trail towards the dead end of Q Street. A K-9 announcement was made and Adams immediately exited the greenbelt without further incident. Adams was found to be in possession of suspected heroin.

Adams was transported and booked into the Humboldt County Correctional Facility on the felony parole warrant and on a fresh charge for possession of heroin.

Additionally, the Eureka Police Department is expanding its K-9 program. Officer Christiansen has been appointed to K-9 officer and we are in the works of purchasing a dual purpose police service dog. This purchase is possible thanks to generous donations from the community. Officer Christiansen and his new K-9 partner will be in service in the near months after all training is completed. EPD hopes to purchase additional K-9s continuing into 2019.

Update: The Eureka Police Department shared this photo of Vex with Sergeant LaFrance on their Facebook page:

In all seriousness, I wonder what he’s more worried about, serving a few days in jail or missing his fix…. I’m going with missing his fix

Can we practice not insulting people when all we know they’ve been accused of is running from the cops and carrying heroin? Please. You don’t f***ing know this kid and neither do I but he looks like a potential heroin addict to me. Not a happy drug to be addicted to, please pray for him with me. Love you, buddy, you can get through this.

You’re right he’s obviously an outstanding member of the community. And just too young to know right from wrong.
Oh wait he’s 27, on probation looking at a felony for probation violation and stupid enough to get caught by the cops with Heroin. He is not a kid and is old enough to know right from wrong.
