A big rig with an empty tanker went off Hwy 36 about mile marker 36.4 yesterday about 7:48 p.m. This is the area known among locals as the Narrows and has been the scene of other large trucks rolling off the road before.

It was recovered this afternoon by Buddy’s Towing. The recovery of the large truck necessitated the closure of the major east-west route to get the vehicle back on the road.

UPDATE 4:35 p.m.:

Milk truck rolloverThe Humboldt County CHP posted photos on Facebook and reported,

Last night, on SR-36 east of the Triumphant Life Camp, a milk truck had a little trouble navigating the curve in the roadway. Big rig tow finally got it back up on the road about 1:30 this afternoon. Glad no one was hurt. Everyone be safe out there this holiday weekend!!!

Looks like the tree kept that truck from rolling down the hill.
